Making Room

Buddha

Been gone a while mulling over “next steps” and “meeting key people” and, well, to be really honest, generally chillin. It’s quite easy to get used to this independently wealthy lifestyle. Except in my case it’s minus the wealthy!!

Actually things are progressing and there are a few opportunities that have come up that sound interesting  and right up my alley. I have to say that all in all this has been and continues to be a time of learning and real growth. Time to check your ego at the door and reprioritize.

I give my car up tomorrow. There I said it. We turn in the Volvo and will be down to one car. To tell you the truth (and I may take this back after tomorrow) I don’t much mind it.

It seems to be my time to let go of lots of things. I’m adopting the Buddhist philosphy of blessing the time I had with something or someone and making room for the new things to come.

Bring it on!

Having my last breakfast at the Taj Lands End this morning and then heading off to the airport, London bound.

That was my breakfast most days here – so when you see me and I’m looking a bit “healthier” you’ll know why!

I’ll be in London till Monday and back to LA Monday night. YAY!!!

Latest news, I got a call from David Fisher (UK Jaman) and he wants to meet with me Monday morning to discuss a new work possibility….

hmmm. Interesting.

Missing you all incredibly.

One love,

Blue (ish)

March 13, 2009

Wow.  It’s been 5 days since I wrote. Seems like I’ve been away a long time. I’m a bit blue today. It’s a combination of fatigue that comes from heavy doses of optimism (it does take its toll) , lack of sleep and  a round of meetings yielding nothing immediate. (Will write separately about the great night I had last night with Od and Deepti that ended with me at 3am eating paranthas yet again, and getting up for an 8am meeting!)

At once I know I am extremely ambitious in believing I would land something immediately after the real news about Jaman, but  still.

Ok, so I have to put my own advice into play and breathe through the moment and reach for the better feeling thought. I’ll do that now. Knowing that writing to you all will help me. There’s that old adage that goes something like this: A burden shared is halved and a joy shared is doubled. That’s so true.

My mandate for the rest of the evening is to sleep and exercise and not be so demanding on myself.  I need to keep the vibration high.

Would love to know what is going on in your worlds. Please email me – would be good to hear from my global girls.

Much love.

And this picture just because it makes me smile deeply.

Dubai: A slice of America in the Middle East

March 8, 2009

G Dubai

I’ve been in Dubai for a few days now.  It really is an American City in the Middle of the desert. Big, tall, huge buildings next to even bigger taller buildings all in a race to see who can reach the sky first. The malls are HUGE – the biggest in the world with a  ski lodge and underground aquarium. Since I live in the US and am not shopping these days (yes, that’s true) and don’t ski, I’m happy to sit in the sun and read while nursing a mojito.

The restaurants are the highlight and the food, especially the lamb is delicious. It’s interesting to see the men and women in traditional dress.  It’s startling to see the women in the bathrooms  primp with all the seriousness and ferocity of people going into battle. Considering the ways to express individuality are limited to makeup, a designer bag and a sequeined head wrap, you see more LV here than Rodeo drive.

I’m just being – not thinking. I’m letting myself float into that space that exists only on a vacation, when that perfect combination  of sun, rest and not having to do anything or be anywhere, finds it’s way into being.

Here are some pix from the last few days. This one’s for Ram!

Why this picture? Because it symbolizes the state of grace I am striving for in every moment. That of joy, playfulness, easy going, happy-go-lucky, all is well, life is good, be in the now.. you get the picture.

It’s been a month since I came and went and now I’m back in Bombay. Quite different circustances this time as many of you know- my Jaman stint is all but over after a solid, intense, expansive 3 years.  This is my time of allowing. I will not shrink up and let the energy seep from me blocking me from what’s next.

My mantra: I am open, ready to receive and excited about what the Universe has in store for me

It started this morning when I awoke at 4:30 am. I flipped the script -  got out of bed, had 2 steaming cups of chai and blessed this time to watch the sun rise (hasn’t come up yet) and listen to Khailesh Kher, Nusrat, and Rahat as I let the energy pour into me.  Life is good.

I’m off to Dubai today. Will be back to you all soon. Hold the space for me as I do for you to let blessing come rushing forward.

Peace and Love.

Into the zone

Just cause I liked the shot! Feeling all groovy.

Been back 2 weeks now. The first week was a bit of a blur. Am settled now and caught up my girls and family  so I feel grounded once again.

All is well. Kids are super good. Just lovely delicious little beings. My mom is getting released from the hospital after knee surgery and Rami is still looking for work. So life goes on.

The key is this: (I read this today)

“I always believe and I still believe that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value.”
Herman Hesse

And I believe wholeheartedly that life is always progressing and it keeps unfolding showing us new experiences.

Onwards!

Whew!

January 30, 2009

Last day in Bombay. Leaving late tonight – actually 3am Saturday morning.  Wow, what a trip. As always the cliche rings true, you cannot come to India and remain unchanged.

Haven’t written as much as I would have liked, but my days were full on meetings outside of the hotel and often led into the evening and night. Living out of a hotel and not being wired all the time challenges ones ability to communicate as usual. This combined with the frenzy of the Bombay pace makes for “catch as you can” blogging.

WhewWhew!

Blue WomanThen this. Wow.

G-licious

January 25, 2009

That’s G-licious or Geelicious, a new term coined by our very own Raminder Singh Sandhu (Thank you very much sweetheart!)

In that vein, here are a couple of glam shots taken last night on my way to a lovely dinner party in a super posh section of South Bombay.
